GLC proudly introduces our new, patent-pending easy on, easy off hub mounted lure skirt which consists of silicone skirt strands hand placed around a retainer hub. As a result of this unique hub mounted strand design, the strands project out from the hub at a 90 degree angle creating a perfect umbrella shape and a pulsating action like no other skirt on the market. Our easy hub skirt is produced with seventy 2.5”, 18 mil, 50 shore top grade silicone strands, but can be custom produced in strand count from 45 to 162, lengths from 1.5” to 8”, strand thicknesses form 16 mil to 26 mil, and strand cut widths from 20 mil to 90 mil. Unlike the standard cut and rubber banded silicone skirt and the wrapped skirt, the easy hub skirt can be produced in an organized array of strand colors. A standard 70 strand easy hub skirt could be produced with 14 different colored strands strategically positions for effect. And with over 6,000 colors and print patterns of silicone sheets produced with our silicone sheet molding process and print shop, the styles and variety of finished easy hub skirt is endless. Unlike any other lure skirt on the market, our easy hub skirt can be custom assembled to match the coloration of any custom painted jig head. The 30 shore silicone molded hub provides a tight, secure fit to any jig head, yet allows for easy and quick replacement in about 5 seconds. The hub is typically produced in clear silicone, but can also be produced in over 10 different standard colors for the ultimate in color coordination. Our standard sized easy hub skirt comes in of 1 ½ to 2 inch micro and min versions for crappie and pan fish, 2 to 3 inch for the standard freshwater lures, and 4.5 to 8 inch Big Game versions for saltwater and larger freshwater game fish like Muskie. The skirt comes in a variety of colors and can be fitted with any custom combination of colors/patterns to coordinate with your own paint schemes. Imagine 70 strands of colors, precisely aligned in 5 strand increments and seamlessly blended into your back, belly, and line colors, to deliver the perfect "umbrella" profile for fishing. Imagine having the option of putting 14 different strand colors on a single skirt. This unique trailer skirt is an expansion of our revolutionary easy on, easy off hub mounted skirt. It consists of either a 2 thick cut strand or 21 standard cut strand straight back trailer in combination with the 70 strand umbrella. It is offered as a one or two piece unit. The one piece unit takes a 70 strand easy hub skirt and adds a 3 to 4.5 inch 2 or 21 strand trailer. The two piece unit is a 3.5 inch 2 or 21 strand wrap skirt constructed without the usual center tube or hub, and with our innovative top cap that fits snugly behind any of our 70 strand easy hub skirts. The new Shortie Series Easy Hub Skirt is a slightly smaller version of the original Easy Hub Skirt. It is produced with seventy 2”, 14 mil, 50 shore pure silicone strands. Like its bigger brother, the Shortie Series Easy Hub Skirt can be produced with 14 different colored strands. The new Shortie Series Easy Hub Skirt is available with or without a 21 strand trailer.
BIG GAME EASY HUB SKIRT
The Big Game Easy Hub Skirt is produced with forty five 6”, 35 mil, 50 shore pure silicone strands. Like the standard Easy Hub Skirt, this version can also be produced in an array of strand colors. The Muskie Easy Hub Skirt was designed with the Muskie and large freshwater and saltwater game fish fisherman in mind. A standard 56 strand Crappie Easy Hub Skirt could be produced with 10 different colored strands. And with over 4,000 colors of silicone sheets produced with our silicone sheet molding process and print shop, the styles and variety of finished Muskie Easy Hub Skirt is endless. Unlike any other lure skirt on the market, the Easy Hub Skirt can be custom assembled to match the coloration of any custom painted jig head. The 30 shore silicone molded hub provides a tight, secure fit to any of the larger spinner bait and jig heads and also fits our 30g, 60g, and 90g Big EZ™ saltwater teaser heads. EASY HUB SKIRT PRODUCTION
Our patented Easy Hub Skirt production is a complex and labor-intensive process requiring highly skilled and talented workers. The process includes the following steps. We start with the finest materials – Dow Corning silicone, pigment, glitter and foils. Silicone pigments and glitter additives at precisely measured and mixed in our color lab. Then they are immersed in the raw 50 to 70 shore silicone through our 3 roll mill compounding process. After compounding, the pigmented silicone is extruded into strips and placed into various size and thickness molds and cured under controlled heat and pressure utilizing our 4 post, 200 ton presses to form sheets. If necessary, these sheets are chromed utilizing Z-Man’s patented foiling process. The sheets are then cut into 3 to 5 strand tabs in various lengths and widths depending on the Easy Hub Skirt product being produced. In parallel, we compound 30 shore liquid silicone in various colors and use this silicone for injection molding the Easy Hub Skirt hubs. Once the hubs and tabs are completed they are sent to the Easy Hub Skirt assembly line for final assembly. We run 2 assembly lines, with 62 workers per line. The tabs are hand placed around the inner hub, the outer hub is compressed on and heat cured to fuse the hub and tabs together permanently.
EASY HUB SKIRT PACKING
One of the age old problems for lure manufacturers that purchase and store large quantities of silicone skirts for their lure assembly process is the tendency of silicone strands to kink and take a set when stored in bulk for long periods of time. To help solve this problem, we have developed a packing technique for our Easy Hub Skirt whereby we string 50 skirts onto a plastic rod and insert them into a cellophane tube. By using this packing process, our skirts can be stored for long periods of time and come out looking factory fresh.
